Workshop with Anthony Ryder, 28th October 2010

The New Mexico branch of the PSA hosted a portrait workshop with Anthony Ryder.   One member of the PSA blogged about the event. You can read her account below, or on her website:

Apart from being an amazing portrait artist he is also a humble and kind man.  Here are some pictures of his two hour workshop.  

He started by defining the shadows then worked from dark to light colours. He talked and explained what he was doing throughout.  One of his emphases is on the way that the light falls on the form of the face of the model - he stressed that it is important to paint the form shadows and cast shadows accurately in order to give a convincing representation of three-dimensional space."
